The Baby Shark Dance song has become a huge viral hit around the world, with its official YouTube video now attracting more than 10 billion views. It was created by three-year-old tot Sharky and his family in Perth, Australia, and uploaded to their channel ‘pbskids.,’ established in 2015. The original version and an extended play (EP) version were released on YouTube in July 2016.
Baby Shark’s song lyrics go: ‘Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo,’ with the most popular version by Pinkfong having clocked up 3.8 billion views and more than 78 million likes since it was uploaded to YouTube two weeks ago.
The song’s official music video has become a global hit, with Pinkfong adding more than 1.9 billion views since it was uploaded last October.
Following ‘Baby Shark’ are remixes of the popular children’s song by various artists, including The Backpack Kid and Lido, who have gained more than 20 million views each on YouTube.
The song, with a minimalist approach of repeating the words ‘Baby shark’ so it is easily repeated by children as they dance along, appears to have been inspired by a 2013 Thai nursery rhyme called Shark Fin Soup. In 2016, three-year-old tot Sharky and his family from Perth in Australia created this version – and it has taken off around the world since then.
