In the era of Peak TV, where there are so many shows from which to choose, it is inevitable that some viewers will simply miss out on a story. Ozark has been criminally overlooked by most people who have not yet jumped in and seen what they’ve been missing. The Jason Bateman (who also directs) led show which also stars Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz (who is amazing), Julia Garner (who is also amazing), and Jordana Spiro has been one of the most entertaining shows on TV in years. This isn’t an easy thing to say given it is a Netflix show that airs all at once instead of week by week. It is also a very dark show, one that at times seems to get lost in the mix of so many other good choices. But Ozark is fantastic and if you have yet to watch it you should remedy that immediately.

Now here’s where things get tricky. Ozark is an anthology which means each season is its own story with a new cast playing similar characters. So when I say Ozark is back for season 4 it means the cast and creative team are back but not necessarily the same characters in a similar story. The creative team has indicated they aim to do this every two seasons going forward.
This upcoming fourth season of Ozark will be noticeably different from what we have seen previously due in large part to the fact that it will be filming in California instead of Missouri. This seems like a departure for the series, but it may work better this way given how much of the story has already taken place in Missouri.
It will not be an easy transition though. Ozark is at its best when Bateman’s Marty Byrde is put through the wringer and forced to deal with very real consequences. Without spoiling anything from previous seasons, Marty’s situation has always been a precarious one, but having to move the family across the country is no small task considering what they have had to endure in Missouri.
We haven’t got a release date for Ozark Season 4 yet, mostly because it’s too early for this sort of thing. But we do know it will be back sometime in 2019 and when it does you should watch all at once, just like the old days.
We’ll keep you posted on Ozark news as we hear more about a release date or casting announcements. In the meantime, you can head over to our Netflix premiere guide or our summer premiere schedule to see everything else coming to the small screen in the near future.
