The title should already tell you that this was a significantly superior episode of Dynamite to the one from last week, which collapsed under the weight of a thousand distractions.
Outside of Leyla Hirsch, Kris Stadtlander, and Red Velvet’s backstage segment, the PAC/House of Black interactions, and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page accosting Lance Archer (who was replaced by a guest), Tony Khan erased problems that many fans (and commentariat) disliked last week.
The program’s format benefited from some minor modifications. This was a more fluid, more energetic, and less mechanical evening of combat.
The hooks were also stronger. Jon Moxley’s return was a major event, as was Cody Rhodes’ return.
Shawn Spears’ amusing goobers, The Kings of the Black Throne made their tag team debut, and Sting and Darby Allin, the most entertaining pairing on the planet, faced The Acclaimed in this episode.
Despite the upturn, it’s not a perfect show. Despite that, there was enough good and great stuff on last night’s Dynamite to consider it a comeback. I’m hoping this becomes a trend.
Let’s trigger the bomb…
