Bachelet will visit China on Monday on a trip that will include Xinjiang (official)


Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, will travel to China starting Monday and visit the autonomous region of Xinjiang, where the Chinese government is accused of persecuting the Uyghur minority.

“During her visit, the High Commissioner will meet with several high-ranking national and local officials,” they explained their services in a statement, in which they specified that Bachelet will visit Canton and, in Xinjiang, Kashgar and Urumqi, the regional capital.
