Brief: NetEase opens its first team in the US

The Chinese giant NetEase has announced the opening of Jackalope Games, the name given to its first studio based in the United States. Specifically, the team’s facilities are in Austin, Texas. Jackalope Games will operate independently and with creative autonomy with the goal of developing games for consoles and PC.

The head of Jackalope Games is Jack Emmert, a veteran of the video game industry who has participated in titles such as City of Heroes, Neverwinter, Star Trek Online and DC Universe Online. It is unknown what project Jackalope Games is working on, but looking at Jack Emmert’s resume, an online game seems like a safe bet.
