Cardi B was recently awarded $1.25 million in damages from blogger Latasha Kebe after she made false statements about the rapper, reports Rolling Stone.

The jury found that Cardi had suffered from emotional distress, invasion of privacy, and defamation as a result of Kebe’s statements.

So far, the damages total $1 million for “pain and suffering and/or reputational injury,” plus $250,000 for medical expenses

On Tuesday, the pair will return to court in an effort to resolve the issue of possible punitive damages and attorneys’ fees.

Cardi B’s team has not yet commented on the situation, but she shared a vintage photo of herself with a woman who appeared to be her grandmother on Instagram with the message. “My queen, thank you for hearing my prayers…Only you know those nights that I cried to you feeling hopeless and tired even when it seems like I have the world on my hands.”

Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, had filed her original libel and defamation case in March 2019, claiming that Kebe’s declared “campaign of defamation” included false claims she had herpes, used cocaine, and was a prostitute.

Following Kebe’s fraudulent claims on YouTube, Rolling Stone reports that Cardi B testified to experiencing “severe anxiety” and “depression.” She also stated that she was under a lot of stress, which contributed to weight loss and problems in her personal relationships. “I felt very suicidal,” said Cardi B. “Only evil could do that.

Cardi’s lawsuit claims that Kebe’s videos have been seen by millions of people.

“None of the aforementioned claims about the plaintiff are true,” her complaint says. “Plaintiff was never a prostitute or a cocaine user, and she does not have herpes now or in the past.” She has never had herpes or experienced mouth herpes outbreaks.

The Daily Disrespect will not be silenced. However, the producers’ lawyers have yet to make any statements about it.
