The veteran musician performed before 2,000 people invited in the garden of the presidential residence to a concert baptized “A night when hope and history rhyme” (“A night when hope and history rhyme”) with which he sought to celebrate “the healing power of music.

The last time Elton John had performed at the White House was in 1998, when Democrat Bill Clinton (1993-2001) was president.

In addition to John’s songs, there were also brief speeches by Biden, his wife and some of the guests, all of them praising the diversity of races and sexual orientations, and the courage of the homosexual singer.

In addition, the concert paid tribute to those who “make history every day” -according to the White House-, including teachers, nurses, frontline workers, mental health advocates, students and activists from the LGBTQ+ community.
