Following their break-up after six years of dating, supermodel Gigi Hadid and musician Zayn Malik were the talks of the town. While some fans were saddened, sources informed foreign media that “it’s far better than they have parted” because their relationship had hit a snag.
“When they were romantically connected,” a source told Us Weekly, “Gigi and Zayn had a destructive relationship.”
The couple has decided to co-parent their 13-month-old daughter Khai who was born in September 2020.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, after an apparent fight with Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid who is a former cast member of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, Zayn was charged with four criminal offenses of harassment against Gigi and Yolanda after he allegedly “shoved his girlfriend’s mother” into a dresser and caused her “mental anguish and physical pain.” Zayn also allegedly called Yolanda an “f—king Dutch s—t” and ordered her to stay away from [my] f—ing daughter.” The documents state that Zayn called Gigi while she was in Paris for Paris Fashion Week during the fight, where he told her to “strap on some f—ng balls and defend your partner against your f—ing mother in my house.”
Zayn sent a message on Twitter about a “private subject”, before the reports of their breakup. “As you all know, I am a private person, and I very much want to provide a secure and private atmosphere for my daughter to grow up in,” Zayn stated in a statement. A location where intimate family matters aren’t broadcast for all to see and judge. To preserve that space for her, I agreed not to defend allegations stemming from an altercation I had with a family member of my partner’s who invaded our home while my partner was away many weeks ago.” “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been “leaked” to the press. I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves,” he added.
Zayn also addressed reports that he “hit” Yolanda. “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid, and I decline to provide any additional details for the sake of my daughter,” he stated. “I hope Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and work towards healing these family issues in private,” he added.
Zayn was penalized for pleading no contest at the time. For each count, he was sentenced to 90 days of probation, for a total of 360 days. He must also attend an anger management class and a domestic violence program, and he must stay away from Yolanda. Right now, they aren’t together. “They’re both terrific parents, though,” a source said at the time to People. “They share parenting responsibilities. Of course, Yolanda is very protective of Gigi. She only wants the best for her grandchild and daughter.”
