Monster, named Kaiju, attack the country of Japan. Deemed with the task of eliminating them is the Japanese Defense Force. Having their town completely destroyed by the Kaiju, Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro make a vow to eliminate the Kaiju by joining the Defense Force. Years have passed since, Mina has been become famous as the commander of the 3rd Unit, whereas things aren’t going great for Kafka who repeatedly fails the Defense Force Exam. Now part of the cleanup crew who removes Kaiju after they are killed, Kafka lives a fairly dull life. This all ends after Kafka ends up in the hospital after a Kaiju attacks both he and his fellow worker. In the hospital, a monstrous fly forcefully enters his mouth turning him into a Kaiju. The manga will follow his life as Kafka turns into the very thing he had sworn to eliminate.
Written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto, the manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ application. The English releases are handled by Viz Media.

Chapter 47 starts off with Kafka in his Kaiju form defeating one Monster No.9’s bodies after having separated into two before the battle had begun. No.9’s other body is occupied with Gen Narumi. No.9 however, manages to learn how Gen Narumi attacks and is able to counter him. The commander back at base describes him as a virus-like a monster and calling him a menace. Gen Narumi, hearing all this, calls himself a bigger menace to the surprise of No.9 who notices that Gen is unscathed by his counter and is in for an even bigger shock as Gen Narumi reveals his other secret weapon, Monster No.1’s retina.
