The Russian occupation administration claimed on Sunday that the Ukrainian army damaged administrative buildings during an attack on the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.

Ukraine and Russia accuse each other of the attacks on the Zaporizhia plant, the largest nuclear complex in Europe that has been under Russian control since March.

Early Sunday morning, “the Ukrainian army carried out an attack with a cluster bomb fired from a Hurricane multiple rocket launcher,” said the occupation authorities of the city of Energodar, where the plant is located, in southern Ukraine.

“The fragments and the rocket motor fell 400 meters from a working reactor,” said this source, quoted by the Russian public agency TASS. The attack “damaged” administrative buildings and hit “a spent nuclear fuel storage area.”

AFP was unable to independently confirm these allegations.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Saturday “alarmed” by the information received from Zaporizhia.
