Ukraine has the “right” to attack Russian military targets, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidency said on Thursday, suggesting that kyiv could carry out attacks on Russian territory.
“Russia attacks Ukraine and kills civilians. Ukraine will defend itself by all means, including attacks on warehouses and bases of Russian assassins. The world recognizes this right,” Mikhailo Podoliak wrote on his Twitter account.
In recent weeks, Russia has repeatedly accused Ukrainian forces of carrying out attacks on Russian soil, particularly in two towns in the Belgorod border region and another in the Bryansk region in mid-April, without confirmation. by the Ukrainian authorities.
In early April, the governor of the Belgorod region claimed that Ukrainian helicopters had fired on a fuel depot.
On April 25, a large fuel depot was also set on fire in Briansk, 150 km from the border with Ukraine and which serves as a logistics base for Moscow’s military offensive in that country, according to Russian authorities, who did not specify the reasons. of the fire.
