When Spider-Man returns to the big screen in 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” he’ll have more than one friendly neighborhood wallcrawler swinging around the streets of New York City. Tom Holland made his first appearance as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War.” And now Andrew Garfield, who played the iconic character in two previous films, says he’d be up for teaming with Holland’s Spidey on the big screen.

“I’m feeling like it might be time to step aside,” Garfield told British newspaper The Daily Star . “I really love this character and if I can do it a service it would make me happy. If I can bring it back around full circle and, for my generation, and for children growing up and watching it, I feel like I would be delighted to do so.”
Garfield went on to say that he wants Holland’s Spider-Man — who first appeared in the “Captain America: Civil War” post-credits scene — to have “a strong presence” in future Spidey films.
“I also want Tom Holland to be the best Spider-Man he can possibly be because I think that Peter Parker is an incredibly inspiring character,” Garfield said, according to The Daily Star.
“And if my participation would help him, then yeah, go for it, man! And if that, at some point in time, happened to be a conversation with Tobey [ Maguire ] and I am of the mindset that it’s not mine, it’s his, then I would step aside. It’s him for sure.”
He added: “It’s been an amazing ride. I really have to say, I’m very lucky.”
Both Garfield and Maguire starred in two “Spider-Man” films. Holland’s first solo outing will arrive in theaters on July 7, 2017. Spidey returns again the following year in the “Avengers: Infinity War” sequel before getting his own movie once more.
Garfield, meanwhile, recently starred in “Hacksaw Ridge” and “99 Homes.”
