Schools in the Danbury area will be closed Thursday as wintry weather hit the region overnight and was expected to continue throughout the day.
Many of the schools did not announce their decision on school Wednesday night or anticipated a two-hour delay. However, as conditions evolved throughout the night, many parents discovered that schools would be closed.

Danbury, Brookfield, Bethel, New Milford, Sherman, Region 12 (formerly Southeastern Connecticut), Ridgefield, Newtown, and New Fairfield were among the schools that have closed.
According to the National Weather Service, before noon today, there was expected to be rain throughout the night followed by snow before noon. Temperatures were anticipated to drop by 5 p.m., with around an inch of snow forecasted, resulting in a messy commute for both school busses and workers leaving work.
Thursday night’s forecast calls for a low of about 6 degrees, with snow tapering off by the end of the day. It will be partly sunny throughout Sunday, but temperatures will drop below zero on Friday evening.
