Fine and sanction with a match behind closed doors against Senegal (FIFA)

FIFA imposed a fine and a closed-door match on the Senegalese federation for the incidents that occurred during the second leg of the qualifying playoff for the World Cup on March 29 between Senegal and Egypt (1-0, 3-1 win on penalties), it announced the body on Monday in a statement.

In addition to a general breach of “safety rules” and the maintenance of order at the Abdoulaye-Wade stadium in Diamniadio, near Dakar, the disciplinary body points to the throwing of objects, the use of lasers and flares in the stands and an “offensive” banner.

Senegal is sanctioned with a fine of 175,000 Swiss francs ($179,746) and a match behind closed doors, the harshest sanction on the list of decisions communicated in a statement on Monday.

For its part, the Algerian Federation will have to pay 3,000 Swiss francs ($3,081) for lighting flares and throwing objects during the playoff against Cameroon (2-1 loss on penalties) on March 29 in Blida.
