Hometown Cha Cha is a slice of life, romantic-comedy set in the calm and peaceful village of Gongjin. Yoo Hye-Jin is at crossroads in her career. After finding out her clinic’s head doctor has been taken advantage of by his patients, charging them exorbitant fees in treatments, she makes the decision to leave the tension-filled city for a more peaceful setting. Here she meets our protagonist, Hong Du-Sik or Chief Hong as he’s called by the villagers. The love story is about a city girl and a village boy whose differences are what make them special to each other.

Episode 16 continues with the devastating news at the end of episode 15, Gam-ri’s death. The episode begins with the funeral taking place. Gam-ri’s death has affected the entire community as many come to pay their respects to ladies. 

We skip to a month later as Hye-Jin leaves for Seoul for a three-day seminar where she has a deep heart-to-heart conversation with her stepmother. Du-Sik, who is back home, deeply misses Hye-Jin as he begins hallucinating about her as if she were everywhere. Unable to control himself he rushes off to meet her, is welcomed with great joy when they meet. 

Hye-Jin tells Mi-seon about her plans to propose to Du-Sik. She decides to do so at the beach where they first met. After a small chat, she implies wanting to get married using the term ‘if they can keep their shoes together. In the heartwarming scene we see Du-Sik revealing his plan to propose as well, pulling out a ring he had for her.

The final few scenes show a wedding shoot in Gongjin. Hye-Jin and Du-Sik want a photoshoot in the village since it holds so many memories for the couple. Their attempts for the photoshoot are, however, failing as each time they attempt to do so, they are joined by someone from the neighborhood, slowly having the entire community join in. Finally giving up and making a run for it, the show ends with the scene of the two running down a hill together looking happy.
