Russian troops are approaching Kiev from the northeast and east, the Ukrainian military reported, raising fears that the capital will fall to Moscow on the second day of the military invasion.
“The enemy was repelled by the Russian forces in the north, in the city of Chernigov, and tries to surround the city and continue in the direction of the capital,” the army said in a message on Facebook, adding that in this advance, the city of Konotp, east of Kiev, has already fallen into Russian hands.
