Recently actor Will Smith revealed on The Oprah Show to being in an open relationship with his actress wife Jada Smith. The couple who have two children Jaden Smith, Willow Smith together, got married in 1997, and have one of the longest marriages in Hollywood with its ups and downs. The couple has an unconventional view on marriage and monogamy and jovially called their matrimony a ” bad marriage for life.”  An excerpt from Will’s new memoir “Will” which he co-wrote with Mark Manson describes his relationship with his wife in the initial stages of their relationship ” We fit together so naturally, and our energies combined exponentially in a way that felt like old friends more than new lovers.” The Oscar nominee and the Hawthorne actress didn’t always see share common ground over the years, which resulted in a disagreement that nearly ruined their marriage. Will stated that communication has continued to enhance their marriage in the face of those challenges.

Last July, Jada and Will drew a lot of attention when they openly addressed accusations of cheating in their marriage during an episode of Red Table Talk. The rumors began after August Alsina, a singer, revealed that he had a relationship with Jada in 2015, with Will’s permission. “I sat down with Will and had a talk,” he claimed, and that he offered him his blessing because of their shift from marriage to a life partnership, which they have discussed multiple times and does not involve romanticism. Jada has clarified that she was romantically involved with August after separating from her husband for an indefinite amount of time, to figure out what made them feel happy on their own as both of them felt miserable within the institution of their marriage. However, they did not consider divorce as Will had been divorced before and did not want to consider it as an option again. 

Reconciliation:

After their breakup in our marriage, they decided to reconcile. They felt like they needed to start over with fresh regulations and something utterly different. The Pursuit of Happiness actor revealed that the couple had their own rules about extramarital affairs, pointing out that Jada wasn’t the only one who has them. Will said that w With the conviction that everyone must discover their path, Jada and he have given each other trust and freedom.” And marriage can’t be jail for us,” he added. The couple calls themselves life partners and the freedom in their relationship has made them feel the support and unconditional love for one another.
