Showtime president of programming Gary Levine has indicated when we could expect the second season of Yellowjackets.

“We’re shooting for a premiere at the end of 2022,” executive producer Sam Esmail told Vulture in a new interview, while suggesting that the series – which chronicles the exploits of a high school soccer squad involved in a 1996 plane accident over Canada before following their lives in the present day – will maintain its production rate.

“We’d really like to keep doing it on an annual basis. I think that our audiences are due for it, and I don’t want the show to fizzle away when you have something like this,” he added.

If you haven’t yet seen Yellowjackets, it’s because someone has been pushing you to do so. If you’ve seen it, you’ll know why everyone’s talking about the show that could win in 2022. It’s part-Lost, part-Lord of the Flies, and full of unanswered questions and mysteries to boot.

Although it seemed like there would be no second season, fans will be eagerly anticipating the premiere of a second season.

The Yellowjacket’s second season, on the other hand, has yet to begin production. “We haven’t received the pitch for season 2; the writers’ room hasn’t even met yet,” said producer Avi Lerner in December.
