Episode 2 from season 1 of Schmigadoon was titled “Lovers’ spat”. In this episode, we saw that Josh got a heavenly signal that his relationship with Melissa is not working anymore as it is not real love. He tries to find an alternative to get himself out of this situation. He just wants to step out of the situation of an affair which is considered as “if walking Dead was also Glee”. We also get to see that Josh was going with his old-school outfit and bowler hat swiftly when given a chance to hook up with the giddy, adorable waitress.
Their relation was not going as their thoughts doesn’t match, Josh likes to attend to the issues daily, on the other hand, Melissa is preoccupied with the thoughts to maintain it in a long run.

It is assumed that the title refers to the magical bridge Josh and Melissa finds themselves abandoned on with the town of Schmigadoon. It can also refer to their unstable relationship, as in the last episode we saw them breaking up and separately dating the locals of the town.
As the town locals are not happy about what their guests from the 21st century have brought with them, we are more likely to see more preacher’s wives there. She is most likely to be plotting with her group to get the couple out of Schmigadoon, this could be possible that her aim might align with those of Josh and Melissa and viewers get to see more spice between them in episode 3.
