On Friday, legendary comedian, actor, and game show host Louie Anderson died in Las Vegas at the age of 68 after battling cancer. The People magazine article stated that he died in a Las Vegas hospital where he was receiving chemotherapy following his diagnosis with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, the most prevalent non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
He is survived by his two sisters, Lisa and Shanna Anderson. Cancer caused complications that led to his death, according to his publicist Glenn Schwartz. Last week, Anderson’s rep said he was “resting comfortably” while undergoing treatments.
“Comedian Louie Anderson, perhaps best known for his work on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, is currently being treated for diffuse large B cell lymphoma in a Las Vegas hospital,” Schwartz stated.
David Anderson is an American actor with a career that has spanned nearly 20 years. In 2016, he won the outstanding supporting actor Emmy for his performance in Baskets, having been nominated three times previously. He also took home two Daytime Emmys for his animated series Life with Louie in 1997 and 1998.
Following a lengthy and lucrative career, Anderson became known as one of the most well-known comedians in the United States, previously being named ‘One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time’ by Comedy Central. His weight was a major aspect of his comedic act.

“Around 370 or 380 pounds, depending on whether I was leaning on something,” the ‘Baskets’ star quipped during an appearance on ‘Conan’ last year. Anderson said he weighed in at 340 pounds before his weight loss journey began and intended to achieve his goal weight of 275 by the end of it.
After being asked whether or not he would retire his fat jokes, he stated, “Yes, I’m going to stop making fat jokes. I believe that I will always be amusing.” He has written four books, two of which were published in 2018.
From 1999 to 2002, he hosted the third revival of the game show Family Feud. After his appearance on Family Feud, Anderson’s career was focused on his Las Vegas comedy show titled Louie: Larger than Life for more than a decade.
